About Son of Laughter
Singer-songwriter Chris Slaten releases music under the name Son of Laughter (The Mantis and the Moon). His most recent recording, No Story is Over, was made possible by the generosity of listeners who hosted and attended his house and church shows across the country. He’s currently working on a musical about the life of Jacob, though he spends most of his time teaching high school literature in Chattanooga, TN, where he lives with his wife, Lyndsay, and their two delightful children.
“Son of Laughter is impossible to pin down, a rich tapestry of orchestration surrounding dense lyrical imagery.” – CCM Magazine review of No Story is Over
“I admire Chris Slaten for so many things, not the least of which is his immaculate beard. But I love his music even more. His guitar parts are wonderfully inventive, his Paul Simon-esque voice soars, and his lyrics are as whimsical as they are literate. Any release of a new Son of Laughter record is cause for celebration.” – Andrew Peterson Singer-songwriter and author of The Wingfeather Saga
About Front of the Tapestry House Concerts
Front of the Tapestry House Concerts in Cleveland, TN brings together music lovers on both sides of the microphone in an authentic, relaxing home setting where the messy and chaotic back of the tapestry is held at bay by the reminder that there is also a front of the tapestry.
All of our shows are free, not because there is no value, but because there is so much value we don’t want to exclude anybody based on finances. At the same time we encourage everyone to be as generous as possible, knowing that all proceeds go directly to our artists. The address will be provided upon registration and in follow up emails as the event gets closer.
As always, we will have food available for anyone who would like to join us for some pre-show hang-out time beginning around 6 pm, with the music beginning around 7 pm.
